Sometimes, what is perceived as a leak is actually condensation.

If you have determined that your window is door is actually leaking, the next step is to determine the location and cause of the leak. You may do this by wiping away any visible moisture from the interior of the window or door, and then determining the point of penetration. By identifying the breach, the product may be able to be repaired. If a repair isn't possible, the product may need to be replaced.

It is very important that your windows and doors be properly installed following the steps described in the instructions provided with your Windsor unit. Improper installation may cause your unit to perform poorly, which could reduce the life expectancy and/or void the warranty.

Rarely, a product may be defective. Under those circumstances, you would need to contact your local distributor to review for possible claim.

Never use a razor blade or other metallic object to clean or remove residue from your window or door products. These can scratch the glass, leading to obstruction of clarity and/or glass breakage.

For general cleaning of the glass surface, we recommend a vinegar-based solution (10% vinegar and 90% water) or commercially available ammonia-free and alcohol-free window cleaners. Clean the glass surface with a lint-free cloth or paper towel to clean. Wipe dry with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or paper towel. Avoid getting cleaning agents on any non-glass components.

Occasional spot cleaning may be required to remove stubborn dirt or foreign material that has adhered to the glass surface. Apply a small amount of non-abrasive cleaner (such as Bar Keeper's Friend) or organic solvent (such as Goof Off) to a clean, dry, lint-free cloth or paper towel. DO NOT APPLY CLEANER DIRECTLY TO THE GLASS. On the area affected, work the cloth in multiple directs until spot is removed. Avoid getting cleaning agents on any non-glass components. Follow the general cleaning instructions to remove any cleaner residue.

Even the most energy-efficient furnace and air conditioning unit cannot fix hot or cold glass. Warranty

The Legend product line offers a 25-year transferrable guarantee on exterior CPVC components, a 20-year non-prorated glass warranty against seal failure and a 10-year warranty on other parts.

Legend Cellular PVC versus Vinyl

As a replacement product, Legend windows present key advantages over conventional vinyl windows. Often, vinyl replacements act as a cover for old, rotting frames or exterior casings, while also reducing overall glass size. Legend retains your glass size while providing a paintable replacement window.*

*For exterior paint applications, Windsor recommends the application of paints with an LRV rating of 56 or greater. For darker paint colors with an LRV rating lower than 56, you must use a product that has been specifically developed for application on PVC and follow the paint manufacturer’s recommendations. Windsor is not liable for paint used on our Legend windows or the result of its use. Please review the instructions and guidelines found in Windsor’s Care and Use Guide.

1. Positive Pressure Drainage System

Excessive rain and condensation concerns are alleviated by our drainage system, which prevents build ups by directing water away toward the exterior.

2. Nail Fin

Easier installation is achieved through the use of an extruded, rigid, pre-punched nail fin surrounding the perimeter of the frame. And, the integrated nail fin provides increased strength and resilience.

3. Exterior Color Options

Next Dimension lets the true color shine through with vinyl that is guaranteed never to fade, peel or chip. Standard extrusion colors include white and clay, while optional exterior finishes are available in white, ivory, tan, bronze, cinnamon, hunter green and black. And, our white finish color never varies; white is truly white. Note: White signature products with black exterior will be laminated, starting summer 2023.

[1] Premium Wood Construction

Natural wood serves as one of the most energy efficient materials available. Windsor uses only the finest wood interiors of Clear Select Pine, Natural Alder or Douglas Fir.

[3] Extruded Aluminum

We use only heavy-duty .050 extruded aluminum cladding, versus thin roll form aluminum. It is sturdier and more resistant to exterior damage, including dents and chips. The powder coat used in our paint application is the extremely durable 2604 finish. The 2605 finish is available when your project requires an even stronger defense against the elements.

We use silicone and tape glazing methods to ensure a water-tight seal and slow the conduction of heat and cold.

Today's tighter, more energy efficient homes can increase indoor humidity. Older homes had random gaps, which allowed for the release of warm, moist air and the replacement of cool, drier air. Newer construction methods do not allow this natural air-to-air exchange, thus trapping any internally created humidity within the structure. Elevated humidity can cause condensation to form on cold surfaces. Sweaty, frosted or icy windows are all forms of condensation problems. Most people assume these situations indicate a problem with the window, but in fact, these are symptoms of excess humidity in the home. Condensation on your windows could be an indicator that other moisture problems could develop.

Indoor humidity levels should be monitored to eliminate the possibility of condensation. The chart below illustrates recommended winter humidity levels:

Outdoor Temperature :: Indoor Humidity at 70° F

• -20 degrees F or below = not over 15%
• -20 degrees F to -10 degrees F = not over 20%
• -10 degrees F to 0 degrees F = not over 25%
• 0 degrees F to +10 degrees F = not over 30%
• +10 degrees F to +35 degrees F = not over 35%

These are recommended humidity levels, and may not be applicable for every household. Differences in glass types (LoE vs. clear) will allow for variances in humidity levels. Window condensation is a good indicator as to the maximum allowable humidity level. If your windows begin to sweat, the humidity in your home is too high.
