Over the past several months, Windsor has been busy installing a new powder paint line at our West Des Moines location. With this new line, Windsor will have the ability to offer the more durable 2604 and 2605 powder finishes, an expanded color palette and shorter lead-time.
The powder paint process is a multi-stage operation, which will provide a consistent output of aluminum to help produce quality products. Beginning with the loading of the aluminum, the material will then travel through our 5-stage washer system. Once the aluminum travels through the dry-off oven, our state-of-the-art, automated paint booth will apply a generous coat of powder. The extrusions will then travel through a cure oven, where the powder will harden onto the aluminum. Once unloaded, the aluminum will be staged and ready for production.
This new capability will have a significant impact on our manufacturing process. It’s one of the most exciting changes we have implemented in the past decade. We are confident that this change will result in increased sales and make us more competitive in the marketplace.
