Window replacement projects can range from a simple residential sliding patio door to a complex renovation of a historic property. Due to retrofitting new products into old construction practices and adhering to preservation restrictions, replacement jobs are often more complicated than new construction jobs. The 1913 Heritage Post Office in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada was a recent window replacement project that presented these challenges. WD Craftline Inc., the Windsor distributor in that providence of Canada, worked closely with the project’s architect and builder to provide products with accurate specifications and detailed installation requirements. The project’s goal was to fill openings with modern upgrades while maintaining the original historic design. This was accomplished by using Pinnacle direct set units with 2-inch simulated check rail and custom-sized double hung windows with spread mulls. Being in this industry, you can’t help but admire the architecture in these old structures. We welcome these types of challenges and are eager to assist you with these exciting historic renovations.
