Our Employees Make the Difference

Each month, we celebrate outstanding individuals who make a difference in our company by demonstrating self-motivation, consistency, dedication and engagement in our workplace. The managers from each of our three production facilities select employees who exhibit these qualities. We designate these hardworking employees as “Difference Makers.”

Dustin Folkers is a key member of Windsor’s Maintenance Department and oversees our West Des Moines facility. He has become our go-to guy regarding all things facilities related in many of our buildings. Dustin is dedicated to getting things done in a timely manner and getting them done right. He’s reliable and consistent in his work and sees projects through to completion. With the absence of his manager in recent weeks, Dustin stepped-up and handled additional responsibilities. Congratulations to Dustin for being chosen as the January 2025 Difference Maker at our West Des Moines plant.

Edgar Alfaro is a group leader for the Norwalk Vinyl Casement Department. With several years of experience, Edgar has much knowledge of vinyl production and can assist in many different departments. He is very reliable and works well with others. In December, Edgar traveled to our North Carolina facility and trained those employees on the equipment that was recently installed in the new Monroe facility. Edgar is always willing to share his knowledge and is eager to grow his leadership skills. We appreciate Edgar’s contributions to our success. Congratulations on being selected as the January 2025 Difference Maker at Windsor’s Norwalk plant.

Shamiir Hailey works as a Vinyl Department group lead in the Monroe plant. Shamiir’s contributions have made a positive impact on our new vinyl offering. He demonstrates a strong work-ethic and serves as a role model to others. He continually gains valuable knowledge operating various machines in different departments. He arrives every day with a smile on his face. He somehow manages to keep all his co-workers focused on their work while also having a good time. Shamiir is always eager to learn and assist others. We are grateful to Shamiir for his optimistic outlook and for his dedication to our company’s success.

Congratulations to Damon Wake for being selected as the February Difference Maker at our West Des Moines plant. Damon pops up whenever and wherever he is needed. One minute he’ll be calculating a formula at his desk and the next, he’s on the shop floor filling in on the Powder Coat line. He’s driven to do his very best work, and he brings out the best in others. He has the ability to focus on the urgent activities required to reach the daily goal. He is also able to comprehend the big picture and adapt his priorities to help us accomplish long-term success. Thank you, Damon! Your dedication to Windsor Windows & Doors is noticed and appreciated!

Victor Jurado was selected as the Norwalk plant Difference Maker for the month of February. Victor works on the Next Dimension Classic Team but moves from area to area to assist wherever and whenever he is needed. He has only been with Windsor for a short time, but during that time Victor has learned many different jobs and has a versatile skillset. Victor is engaged and focused on his tasks, and he works well with others. He has demonstrated that he is consistent and reliable. Victor is very dedicated to the goals of his team and to the goals of our company. Congratulations, Victor. You have earned your designation as a Difference Maker!

Sharon Barajas has worked at Windsor’s Monroe, NC plant since 2021. During the past four years, she has served as the double hung coordinator on the Pinnacle production line. In recent months, her manager recognized some positive changes in Sharon. Because of her up-beat attitude and strong work ethic, she was promoted to the team lead position. We are thrilled to see Sharon’s growth and development as a leader. We love nothing more than to have our employees learn new skills and advance in their careers. Congratulations to Sharon for being recognized as the February Difference Maker at our Monroe, NC plant.

We’d like to thank Shawna Gillman for exhibiting the qualities of a true Difference Maker. Shawna is part of the West Des Moines Shipping Team where she organizes, packages and prepares products for shipment. Shawna is very thorough and detailed in her work and is precisely the type of person we need in this critical position. She works independently and demonstrates excellent decision-making skills. Shawna gets along with everyone and is a delight to have on the team. Thank you for a job well done, Shawna. We appreciate the work you do every day to make our West Des Moines shipping department run smoothly.

In March, Maria Chavez-Mendez was selected as the Difference Maker at Windsor’s Norwalk plant. Maria is part of the Norwalk Insulated Glass Production Team. The manager of that department noticed her attention to detail, dedication to her work and reliable attendance. Maria is liked by her entire team because she comes ready to work and handles her daily responsibilities with determination and focus. She understands the need to be both accurate and efficient and she comes to work every day with a positive attitude, ready to do her best. Maria is a wonderful member of our team, and we congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition!

Maricarmen Martinez was the March Difference Maker at the Monroe plant. Maricarmen has been with Windsor for 6 years. Her primary position is on the paint line, but she’s willing to help others, regardless of the department. Her primary focus is ensuring that everyone meets their daily goal. She’s one of those people who always maintains their composure, never gets upset and never complains. She’s friendly, polite and helpful and she does whatever it takes to get the job done… all while keeping that beautiful smile on her face. We are so appreciative of employees like Maricarmen who make a difference every day.
