Carson Kness, a Norwalk, Iowa, warehouse and shipping manager and an organizer of the Windsor Windows & Doors Employee Home Makeover program, said that being part of the committee that managed the program in 2025—from selecting finalists to executing the projects and seeing results—is a special responsibility and an advantage of working at Windsor.
“The EHM (Employee Home Makeover) program is a great way to give back and help out teammates,” Kness said.
This year’s recipients were Javier Servellon Ingles (Shipping, five years with Windsor); Julia Pineda (Patio Doors, four years); Lisa McMickle (Scheduling, five years); and Ramiro Jurado Gomez (ND Pro, two years).
The EHM Committee seeks applicants who are considered well-rounded employees: those who are on time for work, have a record of success, maintain a positive attitude, are proactive and are well-prepared for their daily tasks. The makeovers have a meaningful and lasting effect on its recipients. The initiative, which has become a hallmark of company culture, seeks to improve the quality of life for employees through home improvement projects, all while fostering a sense of community and support. Windsor funds these home improvement projects at 100%.

Ramiro Jurado Gomez said the improvements brought by the program have made his family’s home more energy efficient and visually appealing.
“It is a huge improvement over the previous single-pane windows we had in our home. There are no more drafts; it is much quieter inside from outside noise,” Gomez said. “When we look at our house, it makes a big impact on us on how nice the house looks with new windows. It will also help our utility bills because the windows keep our home warmer in the winter months, and cooler in the summer months, since they do not leak air from the outside.”
Gomez has two sons, who live in the home and work for Windsor (Daniel Jurado Gomez, two years with Windsor, and Victor Jurado Gomez, one year). The family had several windows that needed to be replaced to better insulate the home for the family and for the daycare that Ramiro’s wife operates from their home.

By the time the Windsor team completed the work, the Gomezes had 16 new windows and a patio door.
On behalf of his family, Ramiro said initiatives like EHM make it special to be a part of the team at Windsor.
“We’re grateful that Windsor has provided this opportunity for our family,” he said. “It’s great working for a company that shows they truly care about their employees.”
The program’s success is also evident in the camaraderie it builds among employees. Volunteers balance their regular responsibilities with dedicating time and effort to support their colleagues, strengthening bonds across departments.
Anyone in the company can volunteer to participate in the service opportunity, Kness said. Eligibility is open to all employees who wish to participate, either as volunteers or as recipients.
Looking ahead, Carson said he hopes to continue expanding the initiative, reaching more employees and sharing their stories. “[Windsor] is really a great place to be.”
