WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Windsor Windows & Doors will promote Mark Rieser to president, and Richard Stephens to the newly created position of chief operating officer, effective Sept. 1. Both are window industry veterans.

John Smit, Windsor’s president for the past 21 years, will officially retire Dec. 31, but will remain a member of the board of directors of Windsor’s parent company, Woodgrain Millwork Inc., Fruitland, Idaho.

Woodgrain President and CEO Kelly Dame said Smit’s leadership has been instrumental to Windsor’s growth and success over the past two decades.

Regarding the new executives, Dame said: “Mark and Richard provide years of experience and impressive credentials. Most importantly, they offer exciting new ideas and plans for Windsor’s future.”

Rieser has served as vice president of sales and marketing at Windsor since 2002. He will succeed Smit as Windsor’s president and will assume Smit’s parallel post as Window division vice president for Woodgrain Millwork.

Rieser has worked nearly 20 years in the industry, previously at Caradco, now Jeld-Wen Inc., and at The Peachtree Cos.

Longtime Windsor employee Stephens currently is vice president of manufacturing. As COO, he will be in charge of Windsor’s plants in West Des Moines, Iowa, and Monroe, N.C., plus Woodgrain’s Atrium Patio Door Company in Greenville, Texas, and Monarch Window & Door Company in Anniston, Ala.

Stephens has been in the industry for nearly 30 years; he came to Windsor in 1993. Prior to that, he held various positions with both Peachtree and SealRite Windows Inc.
