WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The window division of Woodgrain Millwork, composed of Windsor Windows and Doors, Monarch Windows, and Ashworth Patio Doors, is the first winner of the Woodgrain Millwork President’s Safety Award.


May of 2013 marked the 11th anniversary of Bike Iowa’s “Bike to Work” month. This event has grown from a few hundred to a few thousand participants. Big corporations as well as smaller companies participate in this annual event. The goal is simple… to get people out in the fresh air and on to their bikes. Once people learn that they have the ability to bike to work, they’re likely to do it more often and even establish a cycling routine.


The Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity has helped transition 180 hard-working qualified families in to homeownership over their 26 year history. Constructing new homes, rehabilitating existing structures, as well as coordinating neighborhood revitalization projects contributes to ending the cycle of poverty for many families in the Des Moines area.

HomeShowExpo 2013 runs for 10 days in July at the Bent Creek Estates in Urbandale, Iowa. Eleven homes by 9 metro-area builders are on view at the event, presented annually by The Home Builders Association of Greater Des Moines to provide a public showing of the latest trends and products in the home building industry.
