WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The window division of Woodgrain Millwork, composed of Windsor Windows and Doors, Monarch Windows, and Ashworth Patio Doors, is the first winner of the Woodgrain Millwork President’s Safety Award.

The award was instituted in 2012 and will be presented annually to the company division with the best safety record for the year. To win the 2012 award, the Woodgrain window division reported the following safety metrics for its manufacturing locations here, in Monroe, N.C., and in Anniston, Ala.:
A recordable incident rate half that of the national average
A decrease in the lost workday incident rate and workers compensation costs

“The safety of our employees always has been a very important focus for Woodgrain and Windsor,” said Woodgrain CEO Kelly Dame. “Safety is our number one priority.”

Dame awarded a traveling plaque to the winning Woodgrain window division, along with the right to display the award through 2013.

“It is a true honor to be the first winning division to receive this award,” said Mark Rieser, president of the window division of Woodgrain Millwork. “By showing personal responsibility for a safe workplace, every one of our window employees helps to achieve the Woodgrain Millwork core value of respect for people.”
