The Kernel Cottage is an extension of the Katrina Cottage, which was designed specifically for Gulf Coast victims of Hurricane Katrina.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, a group of renowned architects designed Katrina Cottages as an alternative living solution to FEMA trailers. The cottages are small, but they are uniquely designed to utilize every cubic space in order to provide accommodations to which most people are accustom. The Katrina Cottages exclusively feature Windsor’s Legend Series, which is a cellular PVC window with the architectural accuracy and appearance of a traditional wood window. Cellular PVC does not deteriorate or mold in coastal weather, which will help the cottages withstand future hurricanes.
