In the past 25 years, Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity has moved 168 hard-working families into new homes they can call their own. In 2011 alone, Habitat provided services to 119 families living in the Central Iowa area. Constructing new homes, rehabilitating existing structures and coordinating neighborhood revitalization projects contributed to ending the poverty cycle for many families in the Des Moines area.

On May 31 and June 1, 2012, 25 Windsor employees volunteered their time and building expertise for a Habitat home on the east side of Des Moines. The experience was incredibly rewarding — Windsor is looking forward to organizing this type of volunteer effort each spring and fall for the foreseeable future.

In addition to the volunteer build efforts, Windsor has donated vinyl windows and doors for over 100 Habitat projects in Central Iowa communities over the past 8 years. Approximately 12-15 homes each year are outfitted with windows and doors through these donations from Windsor.

In 2012, Habitat plans to move 26 families into home ownership and provide minor repair and exterior beautification to an additional 80 homes.

By partnering with Habitat for Humanity, Windsor provides families with an opportunity to grow and thrive in a quality home they might otherwise be unable to attain. Windsor Windows & Doors is proud to support the Greater Des Moines Habitat’s efforts to end the cycle of poverty for deserving families and create positive change for the entire community.
