Windsor Helps Educate Manufacturing Techs

Trevor Wilson Pre-Apprenticeship IMPACT Program

Windsor Windows & Doors’ Monroe, NC facility has created a new partnership with our local community college. South Piedmont Community College (known as SPCC) is part of a tuition-free Pre-Apprenticeship IMPACT Program that is being offered by North Carolina Community Colleges. Windsor’s first apprentice, Trevor Wilson, joined our team in August of 2022. Trevor is working to enhance his skills by participating on our door production line.

Trevor's focus of study is Machining at SPCC and will learn how to operate the CNC router as well as other saws in the door department during his time at Windsor. Trevor started his training by first learning about all the parts necessary to construct a door. Understanding how the pieces inter-related will ensure that his work on the CNC router is detailed and precise.

During the 18-month program, Trevor will attend classes at the college and work in our North Carolina plant in various manufacturing departments. This training will develop his talent and mentor him in all aspects of manufacturing, including Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Communication and Logistics. Once Trevor finishes the program, he will graduate, tuition-free, as an Industrial Manufacturing Technician.

Windsor Windows & Doors values the expertise of these technicians and is dedicated to participating in this program. By assisting in the education of two or more enrollees each year, we will mentor young people who are interested in a career in manufacturing. This tuition-free program offered in the state of North Carolina is an innovative way to encourage those with a mechanical aptitude for generations to come. The future of manufacturing demands that we all actively nurture these skilled labor positions in the building trades.
