Meals from the Heartland

Windsor volunteers hold Meals from the Heartland banner

In late July, fifteen employees from Windsor’s West Des Moines facility spent the afternoon preparing meals for a local charity, Meals from the Heartland. This nonprofit organization fights hunger by feeding families in need all over Iowa and around the world. The meal packaged that afternoon is known as the ‘Hearty Pack,' containing rice, soy protein, dried vegetables, and vitamins and minerals. Each pack can feed six people. During the 2-hour shift at Meals from the Heartland, Windsor, along with 50 other volunteers, prepared 43,200 meal packages. It was a very rewarding afternoon and the employees of Windsor look forward to more volunteering opportunities in the future.
